2025/26 Events
LIRA Kickoff Luncheon
September 2025
This event is meant to introduce students to the Insurance field and the opportunities it encompasses. We aim to bring in industry professionals and various sponsors to get to know the LIRA team as well as the students of Lazaridis.
AIM Fall Kickoff
September 2025
LIRA's AIM program gives students the chance to learn more about the insurance industry while making meaningful connections. Each student will be paired with an industry professional and they will learn from their mentor during monthly coffee chats.
Insurance 101
October 2025
Insurance 101 is a great place to learn about the fundamentals of the insurance field and continue developing connections within the industry. The event consists of a Q&A panel with industry professionals, followed by an open networking session.
November 2025
ORIMS Risk Management Workshop
The workshop will provide students with valuable insights into risk management through dynamic presentations and hands-on activities led by industry professionals from ORIMS. Attendees will explore real-life insurance scenarios, engage in interactive workshops, and connect with top professionals to enhance their industry knowledge and networks.
AIM Winter Kickoff
January 2026
LIRA's AIM program gives students the chance to learn more about the insurance industry while making meaningful connections. Each student will be paired with an industry professional and they will learn from their mentor during monthly coffee chats.
Annual Case Competition
February 2026
Students will compete in a multi-day, case event working on an insurance and/or risk based case and a marketing based case. This case event will be done with the UW Acturial Science Club. These presentations will be judged by industry experts in the respective fields and cash prizes will be awarded to the tops teams.
Bus 2 Bay
March 2026
Students join us on an adventure to Toronto's downtown core, featuring office tours and networking with executives from some of the biggest insurance companies in Canada. If virtual, the event flips to a speaker event with each sponsor company running educational yet informative presentations, which include a virtual office tour.
